About Us

Welcome to the Society for Qing Studies website. We hope to provide a gathering place full of resources for scholars interested in the Qing Dynasty as well as information for those interested in publishing in our journal, Late Imperial China. The society has no official membership list.

The Society and journal encourage work by scholars in a range of disciplines and representing diverse perspectives on the Ming and Qing periods. The journal presents methodologically innovative work in political and intellectual history, social, economic, cultural, and gender history, as well as historical demography, art history, religious studies, philosophy, and literature.

Late Imperial China regularly features new work by scholars working all over the globe, including North America, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, and the People’s Republic of China.

We hope you will join our List Serv, which will feature conference announcements and research bulletins as well as providing a home for the community of scholars focused on Ming and Qing topics. We want our new online home to foster conversations which will advance the field as well as to provide a venue for the exchange of information about research and teaching.
